Craft Talk Assignment

Once per section (theme), 5 students will analyze a reading and present on their interpretations. This is a chance for students to lead the class in learning, be both creative and critical, and read like writers.

The general question of the craft talk is: What can we learn from this piece?

These should be generally cohesive, but each student will do their own share of the work.

These craft talks should focus on one or more techniques of writing. Each reading will relate to the larger theme, so the students can also discuss that. The group can also create our exercise. All group members can discuss one technique or each student can focus on a different one. Our classes will generally follow a schedule. The group can copy this schedule or go off script.

The group can use any media they want, as long as the professor is told beforehand. The group can also make their presentation as interactive as they want with things like videos, pictures, songs, handouts, MentiMeter, PowerPoint, other readings, and discussion questions.

Students will sign up for their craft talk during week 2 of the semester.
